Privacy Policy — Still Burning Live
Last updated: 5 August 2026
This privacy policy explains what information Still Burning Live collects through our website (stillburning.live) and our Android app, why we collect it, and what your rights are. Still Burning Live is a community-driven gig guide for the underground music scene, operated by Roy ter Maat. If you have any questions, you can reach us at info@stillburning.live.
Who we are
Still Burning Live is a non-commercial, community project. We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
The website
We want the website to be as privacy-friendly as possible. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking service, and we do not build advertising profiles of our visitors.
Like almost every website, our web server automatically keeps technical access logs. These logs may include your IP address, the date and time of your visit, the pages you request, and your browser type. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and to produce anonymised, aggregated visitor statistics (for example, how many people visited and which gigs were popular). This processing happens on our own server. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors, and we do not share it with any third party.
The app: analytics and crash reporting
The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (services provided by Google) to understand how the app is used and to detect and fix crashes. These services may collect information such as a randomly generated app instance identifier, device model, operating system version, general usage events (for example which screens are opened), and, in the event of a crash, technical diagnostic data.
Analytics and crash reporting are only activated after you give your consent. When you first open the app you are asked whether you agree to analytics. You can change your choice at any time using the analytics toggle in the Account tab. If you do not give consent, or if you turn it off, this data is not collected.
Forum account
If you choose to create an account or log in to the community forum through the app, we process the information you provide for that account, such as your username and email address. This is required to create and manage your account, let you post on the forum, send private messages, and recover your password. The forum runs on Flarum software hosted on our own server.
Profile picture (avatar)
If you upload a profile picture (avatar) to your forum account, that image is stored on our server and shown alongside your posts. You can change or remove your avatar at any time from your account.
Contact form
If you send us a message through the contact form, we process the name, email address and message you provide, so that we can read and reply to your message. This information is sent to us by email and is not used for any other purpose.
Legal basis and how we use your data
We only use the information described above to operate the app and its community features, to keep the app stable, and to respond to you when you contact us. We rely on your consent for analytics and crash reporting, and on the necessity of providing the service you requested for account, avatar and contact data.
How long we keep your data
We keep your forum account and its content for as long as your account exists. Analytics and crash data are retained by Google's Firebase services in line with their standard retention periods. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. If you ask us to delete your account or data, we will do so.
Sharing with third parties
On the website we do not share your data with any third party for analytics or advertising. In the app, we use Google's Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) as a processor for analytics and crash reporting, and only after you give consent. Aside from that, we do not share your personal data with third parties, except where we are legally required to do so. You can read more about how Google handles data in the Google Privacy Policy.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience interested in live music and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to withdraw your consent for analytics at any time, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@stillburning.live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or website.
